THE WHAT? THE SEAHAWKS? WHO?

Because I was born and raised in the Northwest, I'm used to waiting 58 minutes every night to hear something about the Seahawks during football season, and even then, most of the talk is about whoever played the Seahawks. However, tonight was pitiful. ESPN's SportsCenter did talk about the game Saturday night between the Seahawks and the Broncos, but you would never have known that there was another team on the field other than Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Forget the fact that the Broncos were outplayed by Seattle's defense and that their Savior threw two interceptions in the first half and that one of them was a horribly overthrown ball. They gushed about how Manning responded to his screw ups. That's right, after he made several bonehead mistakes, ESPN gushed over how well he responded to his own adversity. Nothing was said about Seattle's swarming defense and nothing was said about the good play of Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson, who are incidentally in the middle of a hotly fought QB competition. Nothing was said about the great play of Juron Johnson in Seattle's secondary or the running of Marshawn Lynch early in the game. If I didn't know better, and if I wasn't actually watching the game, I would have thought this was a Broncos scrimmage against themselves. If I didn't know better, I would think there was never a commercial jet flying to Denver Colorado with a plane full of Seattle Seahawks players. The Broncos were wearing a hideous orange crush soda pop looking jersey that they used to wear, and there are many reasons that Peyton Manning looked extremely rusty and very human, but all he could talk about on SportsCenter tonight was how good Manning looked and how much optimism there is for the future Hall of Famer and the Broncos franchise. Seattle doesn't ever really get the love from the East Coast, or anyone else for that matter, but this was an egregious absence of telling the story of the game. Peyton Manning must have played every position on offense and defense, or you would think. That's all they talked about. This must be the first time Terrell Owens was glad that he wasn't mentioned at all. Matt Flynn through a picture perfect bomb to Owens in the end zone and he absolutely blew it, and dropped it. He flat out dropped a perfect pass, giving him the opportunity for instant redemption in Seattle, and the 16 year player dropped what can only be described as a past of complete and utter perfection. Well, better luck next week TO. If you get another chance, I suggest you CATCH THE FOOTBALL. Anyway, if Seattle can't even get press when always plays for them, they never will. This is two thumbs down for ESPN and sports center. To me, they will never be a legitimate sports news program until they cover all 32 teams in the league without so much bias and favoritism. The Seahawks are treated worse than an expansion franchise. Carolina, Jacksonville and Houston were never ignored like the Seahawks franchise. They are the proverbial redhead stepchild, but hopefully the 2012 version of the Seattle Seahawks can drag the forgotten franchise out of obscurity and onto another Super Bowl… That Seattle wins 42-10. Then, three more in a row… I think that is what it would take, and then it would all probably be forgotten a couple of years later. Sorry Terrell Owens, but this is what being in a Seahawks uniform does to a player. Complete anonymity… If Michael Jackson put on a Seahawks uniform and went to a mall, nobody would even care… And he's dead. Anonymity, personified.
